Setup checklist
The end-to-end Microsoft 365 setup sequence, with owners and timing.
Most organizations complete Microsoft 365 setup in about an hour of administrator time, spread across two days because Microsoft 365 applies some changes gradually.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Send Clad your Microsoft tenant ID | Your IT | 5 min | Before you start |

| 3 | Prepare Exchange Online (day before) | Exchange admin | 5 min, up to 1 hour to apply | Prerequisites |
| 4 | Open your setup link and approve the Clad application | Global or Privileged Role admin | 5 min | Approve the Clad app |
| 5 | Create the mail access group and scope mail access | Exchange admin | 15 min, up to 2 hours to apply | |
| 6 | Configure employee sign-in | Application admin | 10 min | Single sign-on |

| 8 | Verify the connection | Your IT and Clad | 15 min | Verify the connection |
Before you start
Send your Clad contact your Microsoft tenant ID (Microsoft Entra admin center → Overview → Tenant ID). Clad uses it to register an application for your organization alone, then replies with your setup link.
The setup link opens these guides with your Clad application ID and tenant ID filled in, so the consent button and the commands are ready to use. Both IDs are identifiers, not secrets. They are kept in your browser only and never sent to Clad. Each administrator who runs a step should open the setup link once in the browser they will use.
What to send Clad
When setup is complete, send your Clad contact:
- The members of the mail access group, so each mailbox is matched to the right person in Clad.
- Confirmation that each employee's sign-in address matches their primary email address.
- The SharePoint sites you granted, if any.
