Dialpad
Create an API key for Clad in Dialpad and choose which users' calls Clad receives.
Before you begin
Role: Dialpad Company Admin · Time: 10 minutes · Requires: a Dialpad plan that includes API access. Your Dialpad Customer Success Manager can confirm this.
Clad connects to Dialpad with a company API key and receives calls for the users you choose.
Set up
Confirm recording and transcription
Clad receives the recordings and transcripts Dialpad already produces. Check that call recording and Dialpad AI transcription are enabled for the users Clad should include.

Create an API key for Clad
- In Dialpad, go to Admin Settings → My Company → Authentication → API Keys.
- Select Add Key and name it Clad.
- Set an expiration of up to one year.
- Under Additional Scopes, select:
| Scope | Why Clad needs it |
|---|---|
recordings_export | Includes recording links with each call |
calls:list | Lets Clad pick up any call it has not yet received |
- Select Save, then copy the key. Dialpad shows it only once.
Dialpad guide: Create an API key.
Send Clad the key and the users to include
Share the key with your Clad contact through the secure channel they provide, along with the Dialpad users, offices or call centers whose calls Clad should receive.
Verify
Once Clad confirms setup, place a short test call from an included user. The call and its transcript appear on the matching client in Clad once Dialpad finishes processing it.
Manage access
- Add or remove users: tell your Clad contact. The same key is used.
- Renew the key: before it expires, create a new key as above and send it to Clad, then delete the old one.
- Revoke access: delete the Clad key under Admin Settings → My Company → Authentication → API Keys.
